Amalga zoning code

3.28.2 Terms

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Amalga code is at https://www.amalgautah.gov/amalga-town-code. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Amalga planning before you rely on it.
DISABILITY: A physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one (1) or more of a person’s major life activities, including a person having a record of such an impairment, or being regarded as having such an impairment. “Disability” does not include current illegal use of, or addiction to, any federally controlled substance, as defined in Section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act, 21 U.S.C. 802, or successor law. FAMILY: One individual, or two or more persons related by blood, marriage, or adoption, living together in a single dwelling unit and maintaining a common household. A family may include four, but not more than four, non-related persons living with the residing family. The term “family” shall not be construed to mean a group of non-related individuals, a fraternity, club or institutional group. REASONABLE ACCOMODATION: A change in a rule, policy, practice, or service necessary to afford a person with a disability equal opportunity to use and enjoy a dwelling. As used in this definition: (a) “Reasonable” means a requested accommodation will not undermine the legitimate purposes of existing zoning regulations notwithstanding the benefit that the accommodation would provide to a person with a disability. (b) “Necessary” means the applicant must show that, but for the accommodation, one (1) or more persons with a disability likely will be denied an equal opportunity to enjoy housing of their choice. (c) “Equal opportunity” means achieving equal results as between a person with a disability and a non-disabled person. RESIDENTIAL FACILITY FOR ELDERLY PERSONS: A singlefamily or multiple-family dwelling unit that meets the requirements of Utah Code Ann., § 10-9a-516 to 519), as amended. RESIDENTIAL FACILITY FOR PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY: A residence in which more than one (1) person with a disability resides and which is licensed or certified by: (a) The Utah Department of Human Services under Utah Code Ann., § 62A-2-101, et seq., as amended, or (b) The Utah Department of Health under Utah Code Ann., § 26-21-3, et seq., as amended. Treatment is not a necessary component of a Residential Facility for Persons with a Disability, but may be provided upon request. Any treatment provided shall be clearly ancillary to the use of the facility as a residence.
