Cleveland zoning code

2-5-3.1 INTENT

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Cleveland code is at http://www.clevelandtown.org/planning--zoning.htm. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Zoning ordinance only; the subdivision ordinance is a scanned image on the town's site and is not included. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Cleveland planning before you rely on it.
It is the intent of this zone to promote the continued use and improvement of the retail commercial function. In order to accomplish the objective and purposes of this Code and to carry out the intent thereof, the following regulations shall apply to the C-1 Commercial Zone. This zone covers the portion of the Town which is most appropriately suited for wholesaling and retailing activities and services, along with the fabrication and processing of goods and material where no fumes, glare, dust, smoke or vibration are emitted beyond the premises. Motels and recreational vehicle courts are also characteristics of the uses in this Zone.
