New Harmony zoning code

20-4 Other Provisions

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official New Harmony code is at https://newharmonyutah.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/nh-land-use-ordinance-2-3-20.pdf. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with New Harmony planning before you rely on it.
(1) Areas falling under the provisions of this section are shown generally on the official zoning map for the town of New Harmony. Specific boundaries of this district shall be determined by the New Harmony Town Land Use Commission. (2) Applicants for special conditional permits within this zone must present detailed engineering studies as required by the Land Use Commission relating to potential problems of developing these areas. (3) Applicants for special conditional use permits within this zone must show what measures will be employed to mitigate flood and flash flood dangers in these zones. Such measures must be developed through consultation with an engineer, planner, architect, and other professionals experienced with development proposals. (4) Factors to be considered in evaluating proposed uses within the overlay zone include but are not limited to: visual disruption of skylines and vistas; disturbance of natural vegetation and wildlife habitats; location in relation to flood zones and drainages, steep slopes, and rockfall areas; and other considerations which may have potential adverse consequences for the health, safety, and welfare of present and future citizens of the Town of New Harmony.
