Newton zoning code

11-4-4 Permitted Uses

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Newton code is at https://cms8.revize.com/revize/newtonut/TITLE%2011%20LAND%20USE.pdf. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Newton planning before you rely on it.
As required by the town building codes, all requests for a permitted use shall also provide an application for a building permit and/or application for a business license, as applicable. No permitted use shall become effective until a zoning clearance is received from the planning commission and a building permit and/or business license, as required, is issued by the building inspector and/or town clerk. The planning commission is also authorized to impose such other reasonable conditions as provided in section 11-4-5 of this chapter.
