Tooele County zoning code

24-3-5 Abandonment

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Tooele County code is at https://www.tooeleco.gov/departments/development/land_use_ordinance.php. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Chapter 19 is a scanned image on the county's site and is not included. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Tooele County planning before you rely on it.
Within 45 days after vacation of a tenant or change of ownership in an existing business, all on-site nonconforming signs must be removed or brought into compliance by the property owner. Nonconforming off-premise signs lacking advertising for a period of 45 days shall also be considered abandoned. If removal does not occur voluntarily, Tooele County may remove the entire nonconforming sign, both face and structure and all costs incurred shall be the responsibility of the property owner. Once determined abandoned and nonconforming, such signs shall not regain any legal nonconforming status later, even if the original business re-occupies the property. (Ord. 2002-13, 6/18/02)
