Tooele County zoning code

35-6-11 Water supply

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Tooele County code is at https://www.tooeleco.gov/departments/development/land_use_ordinance.php. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Chapter 19 is a scanned image on the county's site and is not included. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Tooele County planning before you rely on it.
(1) Major and planned community subdivisions require a public water supply system that complies with all applicable state and local laws: (a) when more than 70% of the lots in the subdivision are less than two acres in area; or (b) when the County Health Department determines that conditions require a public water supply to protect the public's health. (2) The supply of water from a source other than an approved public water system may be approved only if proof of adequate water rights and proof of water availability, flow, and quality meet the Safe Drinking Water Standards by a water sample from wells on ten percent of the lots rounded up to the next whole number. In the application stage, the applicant shall show proof of sufficient water rights to provide domestic use for the total number of proposed dwellings for the entire development. The first phase of development shall include the engineering for the water system if required. The engineering for the entire development shall include the water tank and treatment facilities with a fire flow calculation. The County Health Department shall approve the location of the test wells before the applicant drills them. The samples shall be taken by and have a complete chemical analysis performed and approved by the County Health Department. All non-public drinking water systems shall meet the standards of the County Health Department. (Ord. 2022-32, 11/29/22)
