Tooele County zoning code

5-1 Purpose

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Tooele County code is at https://www.tooeleco.gov/departments/development/land_use_ordinance.php. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Chapter 19 is a scanned image on the county's site and is not included. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Tooele County planning before you rely on it.
Within the districts established by this ordinance or subsequent amendments thereto, there exist uses, structures and lots which were lawfully established or created, but which would be prohibited, regulated or restricted under the terms of this ordinance or future amendments. The intent of this chapter is to permit these nonconformities to continue but not to encourage their perpetuation or survival. Non-conformities are declared by this chapter to be incompatible with permitted uses, structures and lots in the districts involved. It is further the intent of this chapter that non- conformities shall not be enlarged upon, expanded, enjoy an increase in intensity of use, unless specified otherwise. (Ord 2009-06, 2/03/09)
