Tooele County zoning code

5-11 Nonconforming use of land

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Tooele County code is at https://www.tooeleco.gov/departments/development/land_use_ordinance.php. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Chapter 19 is a scanned image on the county's site and is not included. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Tooele County planning before you rely on it.
The nonconforming use of land, existing at the time this ordinance became effective, or through a change in the land use ordinance or zoning district boundaries, may be continued, provided that no such nonconforming use of land shall in any way be expanded or extended either on the same or on adjoining property, and provided that if such nonconforming use of land, or any portion thereof, is abandoned or changed for a period of one year or more, any future use of such land shall be in conformity with the provisions of this ordinance. (Ord 2005-22, 9/13/05)

5-10 Expansion permitted · 5-12 The doctrine of diminishing assets
