Tooele County zoning code

8-1 Purpose

Unofficial copy. It may be out of date. Not legal or zoning advice. Zoning rules change, and only the city or county can say for sure what is allowed on a property. Confirm with the city or county planning department before you buy, sign or build. The official Tooele County code is at https://www.tooeleco.gov/departments/development/land_use_ordinance.php. Text pulled 2026-10-19 from this source. Chapter 19 is a scanned image on the county's site and is not included. Tables (like use tables) may not copy cleanly, so check any table against the official code. Confirm anything here with Tooele County planning before you rely on it.
This chapter is established for the following purposes: (1) to regulate and mitigate certain uses that may create an encroachment on the property rights of the community and therefore threaten the health, safety, comfort, convenience, order, prosperity and welfare of the inhabitants of Tooele County; (2) to permit potential nuisances to be measured factually and objectively in terms of the potential nuisance itself; (3) to ensure that all uses will provide necessary control methods for protection from hazards and nuisance elimination; and (4) to protect any use from arbitrary exclusion based solely on the characteristics of uncontrolled production in this type of use in the past. (Ord. 2003-11, 6/3/03)
